Devyn Lewis, 51, Seriously Injured in Redding Crash on Interstate 5
REDDING, CA (June 11, 2022) – A fatal wrong-way crash seriously injured Devyn Lewis on the Interstate 5 in Redding.
The California Highway Patrol identified the 51-year-old Shasta Lake man as the victim of the wreck which took place on Friday.
The incident happened when Devyn Zeno Lewis was driving a 2014 Chevrolet Equinox in the No. 1 fast lane of the northbound Interstate 5 in Redding.
At the same time, a 2005 Ford Explorer pickup was traveling south on the northbound side, north of the Market Street overcrossing. In the process, the Ford slammed head-on into the Chevrolet.
Wrong-Way Driver Killed in Wreck
The Equinox then collided with the left side of a 2015 Kenworth truck-tractor in the No. 2 lane. The Record Searchlight and Action News Now wrote that the accident occurred on June 10 at about 9:18 p.m.
Devyn Lewis sustained major injuries as a result of the crash. Paramedics rushed him to the Mercy Medical Center for treatment.
CHP confirmed that the wrong-way driver, 69-year-old Bella Vista resident Randall James Lewis, died at the scene of the collision.
The 38-year-old operator of the semi-truck, Gurtej Singh Sidhu, of Clovis, ended up unharmed. The cause of Redding crash is still under investigation.
