Donald Harmon Arrested DUI Crash Interstate 80 Placer County

Donald Harmon, 66, ID’d as Suspect in Placer County Fatal DUI Crash

PLACER COUNTY, CA (January 29, 2023) – Authorities detained Donald Harmon after a fatal DUI crash on the Interstate 80 in Placer County.

The California Highway Patrol determined that the Meadow Vista man was under the influence of drugs when the collision occurred on Friday.

The incident happened when 66-year-old Donald Harmon was driving a GMC Sierra at an unsafe speed east on the Interstate 80 in Placer County.

A Toyota Highlander and a Toyota Sienna were traveling in the same direction at the time. CHP said Donald Harmon looked down at his phone while the traffic began to slow ahead.

He looked up, did not notice the slowing traffic and hit the rear of the Highlander. The impact forced the Highlander into the back of the Sienna, east of Penryn Road.

1 Killed, 2 Injured in Wreck

The Sacramento Bee and FOX 40 News wrote that the wreck took place on January 27 shortly after 4 p.m. near Penryn. The driver of the Highlander, a 57-year-old Meadow Vista man, died at the scene.

The two adult occupants of the Sienna sustained minor injuries as a result of the accident. CHP identified them as Oleksandr Borysov, 44, and Hanna Borysova, 30, of Roseville.

The two 1-year-old children in the Sienna ended up unharmed following the collision. Meanwhile, Donald Harmon survived the crash with possible broken ribs.

Paramedics rushed the suspect to the Sutter Roseville Medical Center for treatment. CHP soon arrested Donald Harmon on suspicion of DUI.

The Placer County DUI crash is still under investigation.
