East Compton hit-and-run Atlantic Avenue
Bicyclist Injured in East Compton Hit-and-Run Near Atlantic Avenue and Compton Boulevard
EAST COMPTON, CA (February 12, 2022) – A hit-and-run crash injured a bicyclist near Atlantic Avenue and Compton Boulevard in East Compton.
According to the California Highway Patrol dispatch team, the accident took place on Saturday afternoon. Officers reported the collision at about 2:22 p.m.
CHP said a vehicle struck the bicycle rider for an unknown reason. The driver hit the cyclist on South Atlantic Avenue near the intersection with East Compton Boulevard.
Driver Hits Rider, Flees Scene
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene near the East Rancho Dominguez Park. They found the victim who ended up hurt as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel then treated the patient for the unspecified injuries they sustained in the incident. The name of the wounded rider and their condition at this time were not disclosed.
Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that the motorist did not stop to render aid to the bicyclist and fled the area. They described the car as possibly a silver Kia Niro.
Officers forced the corner of Atlantic Avenue and Compton Boulevard to shut down following the hit-and-run crash. The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
