Pedestrian Injured in East Los Angeles Hit-and-Run at Whittier and Hendricks

EAST LOS ANGELES, CA (October 7, 2021) – A pedestrian was hospitalized after a hit-and-run crash at Whittier Boulevard and Hendricks Avenue in East Los Angeles.

The California Highway Patrol first logged the incident on Wednesday afternoon. Officers reported the collision shortly after 3:34 p.m.

The accident happened on October 6 when a vehicle struck the pedestrian for an unknown reason in East Los Angeles.

The driver hit the victim at the intersection of West Whittier Boulevard and Hendricks Avenue. Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene.

Medical personnel found the person left wounded as a result of the collision. A private ambulance took the patient to the Beverly Hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.

The report did not disclose the name of the victim and their condition at this time. Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that the motorist did not stop to help and fled the area.

Witnesses claimed that the suspect abandoned the vehicle on the right curb edge of Montebello Park Way, just north of Allston Street.

Officers forced the intersection of Whittier and Hendricks to close following the collision. The East Los Angeles hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
