Deadly Fiery Collision at Eaton and Esplanade
Chico, CA (April 13, 2023) – Eduardo Medina-Piceno, and Tanner Russell suffered fatal injuries following a traffic accident that occurred in the area of Eaton Road and The Esplanade.
On April 13, Thursday, a collision between a big rig and a car took place at the intersection near the Chevron gas station in North Chico. Our sources indicated the car split into two pieces after crashing into the truck that was hauling logs.
The Action News Now reported the car burst into flames due to the force from the impact. Our sources indicated burning debris skidded across the gas station, and a tire rolled up to the front door of the market.
Fatal Car Accident in Chico
Shortly after 3:30 a.m., emergency crews arrived at the accident scene. First responders found two occupants in the car unconscious. Despite life-saving measures performed by paramedics, the victims sadly succumbed to their injuries and passed away. Family members and friends of the deceased parties identified them as 19-year-old Eduardo Medina-Piceno; and 21-year-old Tanner Russell.
The driver of the big rig appeared unharmed after the horrible crash.
At this time, detectives continue to investigate the precise cause of the deadly accident that happened Eaton Road and The Esplanade.
