Woman, Girl Injured in Egger Highlands Pedestrian Crash at Palm and 16th
SAN DIEGO, CA (September 3, 2022) – A pedestrian crash left two people injured at Palm Avenue and 16th Avenue in the Egger Highlands neighborhood.
According to the FOX 5 News and ABC 10 News, the accident took place two months ago on July 26. Officers reported the collision at around 8:15 p.m.
The incident happened when a female pedestrian and a 12-year-old girl were crossing an Egger Highlands marked crosswalk in San Diego. The two were walking in the 1500 block of Palm Avenue .
At the same time, a vehicle was making a left turn from 16th Avenue. Police said in the process, the driver struck the victims in the intersection.
Driver Hits Victim, Flees Scene
Paramedics arrived and then found the two people who ended up hurt as a result of the collision. The 40-year-old woman sustained serious injuries while the girl survived with minor injuries.
Medical personnel rushed the adult patient to a hospital for treatment. The report did not disclose the names of the wounded parties.
Meanwhile, police added that the motorist stopped, went back inside her car and fled the area. She left in a small, dark-colored SUV with damage to the front headlight on the driver’s side.
Officers forced the corner of Palm and 16th avenues to shut down for a time following the incident. The Egger Highlands pedestrian crash is still under investigation.
