Passenger Hospitalized After Collision Near Heber Road
Heber, CA (May 9, 2022) – Elena Gomez, an 84-year-old woman, suffered serious injuries following a traffic accident that occurred on Highway 111 Monday.
The KYMA News reported Gomez was a passenger in a vehicle traveling on the highway in Heber. For reasons still unclear, the driver allowed the vehicle to veer into the opposite lane facing oncoming traffic. Officials said the vehicle occupied by Gomez ended up crashing head-on into another car in the area near Heber Road.
Wrong-Way Driver Killed in Car Accident on Highway 11 in Heber
When rescue teams arrived at the site, they found the driver of the wrong-way vehicle unconscious. Paramedics performed life-saving measures to the motorist but he sadly passed away at the scene.
Meanwhile, the passenger–Elena Gomez, reportedly sustained injuries as a result of the collision. A REACH Air airlifted the victim to Desert Regional Medical for further treatment and evaluation.
No immediate information was available on the other drivers involved in the unfortunate event.
At this time, detectives continue to investigate the precise cause of the deadly crash on Highway 111 nin Heber.
