Elise Durgin, 78, Seriously Injured in Grass Valley Fatal Crash
GRASS VALLEY, CA (January 31, 2023) – A fatal crash left Elise Durgin seriously injured on Rough and Ready Highway near Grass Valley.
The California Highway Patrol identified the 78-year-old Grass Valley woman as the victim in the wreck which took place on Monday.
The incident happened when Elise Durgin was a 2019 Subaru WRX east on Rough and Ready Highway outside Grass Valley. At the same time, a 2008 Infiniti G37 was going west.
Man, 18, Killed in Wreck
CHP for an unknown reason, the Infiniti crossed the center line into the eastbound lane. In the process, the car slammed head-on into the Subaru near Greenwood Road.
The Union and KCRA News wrote that the collision occurred on January 30 at around 5:50 p.m. The 18-year-old man driving the Infiniti died at the scene of the accident.
Elise Durgin sustained major injuries as a result of the crash. Paramedics rushed her to the Sutter Roseville Medical Center for treatment.
Officers forced a portion of Rough and Ready Highway to shut down for two hours following the wreck. The cause of the Grass Valley woman crash is still under investigation.
