Eliseo Reyes DUI hit-and-run Taft
Eliseo Reyes, 44, ID’d as Suspect in Taft DUI Hit-and-Run Crash at Tenth and San Emidio
TAFT, CA (January 10, 2022) – Authorities detained Eliseo Reyes after a DUI hit-and-run crash at Tenth Street and San Emidio Street in Taft.
Police determined that the 44-year-old man was under the influence of alcohol when the wreck took place on Sunday.
The incident began when Eliseo Reyes was driving a 2004 Ford Mustang south on Tenth Street in the city of Taft. A 2022 Toyota Camry was traveling in front of him at the time.
Police said the Toyota then stopped at the intersection with San Emidio Street. In the process, Eliseo Reyes struck the rear of the Camry.
2 Men Injured in Wreck
The driver of the Toyota, a 19-year-old man, and his passenger, a 22-year-old man, complained of pain as a result of the collision.
Paramedics took the victims to a Bakersfield hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries. The report did not disclose their names and their condition at this time.
The Taft Midway Driller wrote that the accident occurred on January 9 at about 6:50 p.m. Meanwhile, police affirmed that Eliseo Reyes did not stop to render aid and fled the scene.
Officers located him in the 100 block of Taylor Street and found out that he was driving without a license. They soon arrested Eliseo Reyes for DUI, hit-and-run and driving without a license.
The Taft DUI hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
