2 Hospitalized After Collision at South Broadway and Morrison Avenue
Santa Maria, CA (December 7, 2022) – Police arrested 32-year-old Emiliano Sanchez Najera following a suspected DUI crash that occurred in the area of South Broadway and Morrison Avenue.
According to the Santa Maria Times News, two vehicles collided at the intersection in Santa Maria Tuesday evening. Earlier reports indicated the force from the impact disabled at least one of the cars. After the crash, two occupants stepped out and started pushing the car out of the roadway.
Officials said a second collision happened when the driver of a third vehicle did not notice the people pushing the disabled car. The allegedly drunk motorist ended up hitting the two people, and the wreckage.
Shortly after 9:10 p.m., rescue teams arrived at the location. Responding medical personnel rendered aid to the two parties hit by a vehicle. The article published online mentioned one victim sustained major head trauma; and the second victim suffered major injuries to their lower extremities. Paramedics rushed the two victims to the hospital for treatment and further evaluation. Personal information on the patients remained undisclosed pending confirmation.
DUI Suspect Arrested After Car Crash in Santa Maria
Meanwhile, investigators determined the driver of the third vehicle was intoxicated at the time of the collision. Police then arrested the suspect, Emiliano Sanchez Najera, for DUI.
Detectives handling the case continue to determine several unclear factors surrounding the road accident that happened at South Broadway and Morrison Avenue in Santa Maria.
