Man Dies at Hospital After Collision Near Normandy Road
Encinitas, CA (May 8, 2022) – One person died following a traffic accident that occurred on Piraeus Street, the San Diego Union-Tribune News reported.
Officials said the victim was a passenger in a car heading south on Piraeus Street. When the vehicle approached the area near Normandy Road, the driver pulled over and stopped in a bike lane. The article published online mentioned a male passenger stepped out of the car, and crossed the street. Preliminary investigation revealed the man wanted to pick flowers.
Fatal Pedestrian Accident on Piraeus Street in Encinitas
When the pedestrian started walking back to the stopped vehicle, a passing vehicle struck him. The force from the impact resulted in serious injuries to the victim. Despite life-saving measures performed by paramedics, the pedestrian sadly succumbed to his injuries and died. The identity of the deceased remained undisclosed pending confirmation and notification of next of kin.
No other injuries were reported in the unfortunate event.
At this time, detectives continue to investigate several unclear factors surrounding the deadly accident on Piraeus Street in Encinitas.
