Vehicle Strikes, Kills Pedestrian on Rose Avenue
Selma, CA (April 23, 2022) – Police arrested 57-year-old Epigmeneo Cortez-Pedro in relation with a deadly pedestrian accident that occurred on Rose Avenue.
According to Your Central Valley News, Cortez-Pedro was behind the wheel of a Nissan Versa traveling in the streets of Selma. Earlier reports indicated the motorist struck a pedestrian walking westbound near Highland Avenue. The horrible crash took place on Rose Avenue around 10:30 p.m.
The article published online mentioned the pedestrian sadly died as a result of the collision. Responding paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene. Pending confirmation and notification of next of kin, the identity of the deceased remained undisclosed.
DUI Suspect Arrested After Deadly Pedestrian Accident in Selma
Meanwhile, Cortez-Pedro reportedly continued driving following the crash. Police followed a fluid trail from the car and found the suspect vehicle behind a home approximately a quarter mile from the crash site. Officials then arrested Epigmeneo Cortez-Pedro on suspicion of felony driving under the influence; felony gross vehicular manslaughter; and felony hit and run causing great bodily injury.
Further investigation on the case is underway.
