Bicyclist Killed in Collision on State Route 78 Near Centre City Parkway Saturday
Escondido, CA (August 21, 2021) – One person died following a bicycle accident that occurred on State Route 78 Saturday, the FOX5 San Diego reported.
Officials said a white Volvo sedan struck a bicyclist in the eastbound side of Highway 78. Preliminary investigation revealed the victim was trying to cross from the center divider to the right shoulder of the freeway when the crash happened.
The catastrophic incident took place in the vicinity of Centre City Parkway.
Deadly Bicycle Accident in Escondido, August 21
Shortly after 9 p.m., emergency teams arrived at the crash site. Responding paramedics rendered aid to the cyclist found with serious injuries. Despite life-saving measures, the bicyclist succumbed to his trauma and died. Police continue to withhold the name of the deceased pending confirmation and notification of next of kin.
Detectives stayed at the crash site the whole evening. Investigators continue to work at this time to determine the precise cause of the deadly bicycle accident in Escondido.
