Driver Killed in Crash with Alleged DUI Driver on State Route 91 in Corona
RIVERSIDE COUNTY, Calif. (April 30, 2024) — One person died in a two-vehicle fatal crash on the Riverside 91 Freeway, just east of the 15 Freeway in Corona.
The collision occurred at around 12:26 a.m. on April 29th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A driver in a Toyota 4Runner SUV died when after the vehicle was hit by a suspected drunk driver in a Lincoln Mark LT, the report said.
The Toyota SUV reportedly overturned and caught on fire in the westbound lanes of State Route 91, police said.
Investigators working on the case reported the driver in the Lincoln struck the rear, passenger side of the SUV and caused it to crash.
The man driving the Toyota sustained major injuries and died at the scene.
Meanwhile, the 24-year-old Santa Ana man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, the authorities said.
Finally, the name of the driver who died was not released.
Witnesses to the fatal crash on the 91 Freeway are asked to call CHP detectives at 951-637-8000.
