Woman Killed in Crash with Truck on Interstate 5 Freeway
SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, Calif. (May 2, 2023) — A fatal crash on the Interstate 5 Freeway Tuesday morning happened near Junipero Serra Road in San Juan Capistrano.
The two-vehicle collision occurred in the southbound lanes of the I-5 around 5:16 a.m. on May 2nd, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officials reported a woman driving a black Jeep Cherokee and a driver of a stakebed truck collided due to unknown circumstances. The Jeep wound up stuck underneath the truck.
Police issued a SigAlert due to several lanes being blocked by the vehicles and emergency responders.
The cause of the crash and liability remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
