Teen Passenger Killed in Car Accident on Pony Express Trail Saturday
Pollock Pines, CA (May 20, 2021) – On May 15, Saturday, one person died and another suffered injuries following a suspected DUI car crash on Pony Express Trail.
According to Mountain Democrat, 18-year-old Roman Brambila was behind the wheel of a white 2005 Subaru Legacy traveling at a high rate of speed in Pollock Pines. When the vehicle approached the area east of Manzanita Street, it veered off the roadway and crashed into a tree.
Officials said the force from the impact caused the Subaru to spin uncontrollably. Per article published online, the vehicle came to a rest after hitting a second tree.
Shortly after 12:30 a.m., rescue teams arrived a the site and found an unconscious juvenile in the passenger seat. Paramedics performed life-saving measures to the female party but she sadly succumbed to her injuries and died. Authorities briefly identified the deceased as a 17-year-old junior student at El Dorado High School.

Meanwhile, Roman Brambila reportedly sustained serious injuries as a result of the crash. A helicopter reportedly transported the injured driver to Renown Hospital in Reno, Nevada, for treatment.
Officers later mentioned alcohol possibly played a role in the catastrophic incident. Further investigation on the case is underway.
