Motorcycle Rider Killed in Crash on I-80 at I-880 Freeways in Oakland
OAKLAND, Calif. (April 30, 2024) — A fatal motorcycle accident happened Tuesday morning on eastbound Interstate Highway 80, just east of the Bay Bridge in Oakland.
The multi-vehicle collision occurred at around 7:30 a.m. on April 30th at the transition to the southbound Interstate Highway 880 in the MacArthur Maze, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The drivers of a red and white pickup truck, a semi-truck and a motorcycle were possibly involved, but it’s unknown what led up to the accident.
One witness told authorities the rider was wobbling before the crash with the other motorists. Also, the semi-truck driver reportedly left the scene.
Meanwhile, two US Coast Guards were at the scene and confirmed the death of the motorcyclist.
Detectives are checking cameras in the area and working on the case to determine fault for the fatal motorcycle accident on the 80 Freeway in Oakland.
