8-Vehicle Crash on Century (105) Freeway in South LA
SOUTH LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Sept. 22, 2022) — A fatal, multi-vehicle crash happened Thursday morning on the eastbound Century (105) Freeway at the northbound Harbor (110) Freeway in South Los Angeles.
The collision occurred about 6:55 a.m. on Sept. 22nd, in the Vermont Vista area, according to a California Highway Patrol dispatch.
Sadly, one person died at the scene and another person was trapped between two vehicles and suffered major injuries, according to a report by the Los Angeles Fire Department. The person was not inside a vehicle at the time, but it’s unclear why they were not in a vehicle.
The LAFD responded and evaluated roughly five people at the scene for various injuries. They transported at least one person to a hospital with undisclosed minor injuries.
A dark-colored Tesla reportedly collided near the center divider of the freeway. Next, the drivers of a blue Mazda and a Toyota RAV4 SUV collided as they attempted to avoid the Tesla crash. Five other vehicles including a silver Nissan 370 and a black sedan also crashed in the HOV and No. 1 lanes, the CHP report said. One of the vehicles overturned during the collision.
