One Dead in Multi-Vehicle Collision on 60 Freeway
SOUTH EL MONTE, Calif. (Dec. 3, 2021) – A fatal South El Monte crash today on the Pomona (60) Freeway happened near Peck Road.
The multi-vehicle collision involved a big rig truck and a black Mercedes SUV, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The CHP dispatch reported the crash at 3:25 a.m. in the westbound lanes of the freeway at the Peck Road off ramp. Police responded to the scene where they located several vehicles involved in the fatal traffic accident.
Someone in the black Mercedes SUV reportedly died at the scene. It’s unknown if anyone in the big rig suffered injuries in the crash at this time.
Meanwhile, there is no further information about the the identity or gender of the fatally injured person.
Additionally, authorities closed down three lanes of the Pomona 60 Freeway due to the investigation.
Meanwhile, investigators seek to determine what circumstances led up to the collision and will confirm liability for the South El Monte accident.
