Fernando Gayton Jr., 27, Killed in Fresno Hit-and-Run Crash at Pickford and Oleander
FRESNO, CA (May 3, 2021) – A hit-and-run crash at Pickford and Oleander avenues killed Fernando Gayton Jr. in Fresno.
The Coroner’s Office identified the 27-year-old Fresno man as the victim of the fatal wreck which occurred on Monday afternoon.
The incident began when Fernando Gayton Jr. was driving a Honda south on South Pickford Avenue in Fresno. At the same time, a black Mercedes was going west on East Oleander Avenue.
Driver Hits Another Car, Flees on Foot
For an unknown reason, the Mercedes then slammed into the Honda. The two crashed at he intersection of Pickford and Oleander avenues.
Firefighters along with the paramedics responded and pronounced Fernando Gayton Jr. dead at the scene. Family members created a GoFundMe page to help cover the funeral costs of the victim.
The Fresno Bee and FOX 26 News reported that the accident took place on May 3 shortly before 5 p.m. Meanwhile, police affirmed that the driver of the Mercedes exited their car following the collision.
The motorist did not render aid to Gayton and soon fled on foot. Authorities are still searching for the hit-and-run suspect. The Fresno hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
