Passenger Hospitalized After Collision Near Zahadoom Way Monday
Mendocino County, CA (October 22, 2021) – One person died, and another suffered injuries following a car crash that occurred on West Road.
The Press Democrat News reported 18-year-old Giovanni Artenio Leon was behind the wheel of a 2017 Jeep Cherokee. Officials said the teenager was traveling in the streets of Mendocino County onOctober 18, Monday.
According to the article published online, the teenager driver lost control of the Jeep. The vehicle veered off the traffic lanes, and ended up slamming into a tree. Officials said the force from the impact caused the wreckage to burst in flames.
The catastrophic incident took place on West Road, just north of Zahadoom Way.
Driver Giovanni Leon Killed in Mendocino County, October 18
Shortly after 11 p.m., emergency teams arrived at the location. First responders found the driver unconscious. Despite life-saving measures, Giovanni Leon succumbed to his injuries and died.
Authorities said the passenger suffered serious injuries as a result of the collision. Our sources mentioned a helicopter airlifted the injured 21-year-old Covelo man to Providence Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital. The patient was treated for internal bleeding and a possible broken femur.
Further investigation on the car crash on West Road is underway.
