Bicycle Rider Francisco Saldivar, 44, Killed in Shafter Crash on Highway 43
SHAFTER, CA (September 19, 2022) – Bicycle rider Francisco Saldivar was killed after a crash on Highway 43 in Shafter.
The coroner’s office identified the 44-year-old Shafter man as the victim of the fatal accident which took place last week on Monday.
The incident happened when Francisco Saldivar was riding a bicycle on Highway 43, north of Cherry Avenue, in Shafter. For an unknown reason, a vehicle struck him.
Bicyclist Hit by Vehicle
The Bakersfield Now and Bakersfield Californian wrote that the collision occurred on September 12 at around 2 a.m.
Francisco Saldivar sustained serious injuries as a result of the bicycle accident. Paramedics arrived and soon pronounced him dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, the California Highway Patrol did not mention if the driver stopped or stayed at the site following the incident.
Officers forced a stretch of Highway 43 to shut down for a time after the collision. The cause of the Shafter bicycle crash is still under investigation.
