Child, 7, Killed in Fremont Bicycle Crash on Montrose Avenue
FREMONT, CA (May 20, 2022) – A child on a bicycle was killed after a crash on Montrose Avenue in Fremont.
According to the East Bay Times and KTVU News, the fatal accident took place on Friday afternoon. Officers reported the collision at about 3:45 p.m.
The incident happened when a 7-year-old boy was riding a bicycle with his grandfather on Montrose Avenue in the city.
Driver Hits Boy on Bike
Fremont police said for an unknown reason, a car then struck the child crossing the street at the time. The vehicle jumped the sidewalk and continued onto the lawn of a house nearby.
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene. They found the boy who sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel rushed him to a hospital, where he died. Meanwhile, police affirmed that the driver stopped and stayed at the site after hitting the victim.
Officers forced a stretch of Montrose Avenue to shut down for a time following the incident that killed the child. The cause of the Fremont bicycle crash is still under investigation.
