Child Killed in Fresno Hit-and-Run at Friant Road and Fort Washington Road
FRESNO, CA (June 17, 2021) – A hit-and-run crash killed a child pedestrian at Friant Road and Fort Washington Road in Fresno.
According to an article published by the ABC 30 News, the tragic accident occurred late Thursday night. Officers reported the collision shortly after 11:30 p.m.
The incident happened when a boy was crossing Friant Road at the intersection with Fort Washington Road. Fresno police said he was walking with his family to get to a store at the time.
Boy Hit by Car in Crosswalk
For an unknown reason, a black 4-door vehicle struck the juvenile in the crosswalk. Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and found the young pedestrian left lying on the road.
He sustained major injuries as a result of the collision. Medical personnel soon rushed the victim to the Community Regional Medical Center, where he died.
Meanwhile, police affirmed that the driver of the car did not stop to render aid to the child and fled the area. Authorities are still searching for the suspect.
Officials forced both sides of Friant at Fort Washington to shut down following the collision. The fatal Fresno hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
