Woman, 30, Killed in Fresno Crash on Church Avenue Near West and Hughes
FRESNO, CA (August 18, 2022) – A crash killed one person on Church Avenue near West and Hughes avenues in Fresno.
According to The Fresno Bee and Your Central Valley, the tragic accident took place on Thursday afternoon. Officers reported the wreck at around 3:15 p.m.
The incident began when two people inside a Kia stopped their car on westbound Church Avenue in Fresno. The two were waiting to make a left turn into their residence at the time.
A Cadillac Escalade approached and for an unknown reason, slammed into the rear of their car. The impact then pushed the Kia into the lane of upcoming traffic and directly into the path of a GMC van.
Multiple Cars Collide
In the process, the Kia collided head-on with the GMC between West and Hughes avenues. The Kia ended up crushed from behind and severely damaged in the front.
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene. They found the passenger of the Kia, a 31-year-old woman, who sustained major injuries as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel rushed her to the Fresno Community Regional Medical Center, where she died. The name of the deceased victim has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, the California Highway Patrol forced a stretch of Church Avenue to shut down for hours following the wreck. The cause of the fatal Fresno crash is still under investigation.
