Fresno County Fatal DUI Crash Highway 99 Clovis Avenue

1 Killed, 1 Badly Injured in Fresno County Crash on Highway 99 Near Clovis Avenue

FRESNO COUNTY, CA (December 3, 2022) – A DUI crash killed one person and badly injured another on Highway 99 near Clovis Avenue in Fresno County.

According to The Fresno Bee and Your Central Valley, the tragic accident took place late Friday night. Officers reported the wreck on December 2 at about 11:10 p.m.

The incident began when a Mitsubishi Galant ended up blacked out in the middle northbound lane of Highway 99, just north of Clovis Avenue, in Fresno County. The car was involved in a prior crash on Highway 99.

A Toyota RAV4 was traveling in the same direction at the time. The California Highway Patrol said the Toyota failed to avoid the Galant and slammed into the rear of the Mitsubishi.

Drunk Driver Hits Another Car

Both vehicles went off the roadway and landed on the right shoulder. The Galant became fully engulfed in flames upon impact.

Firefighters arrived and pronounced the 28-year-old Selma resident driving the Mitsubishi dead at the scene. The name of the deceased victim has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.

The male driver of the Toyota sustained moderate injuries as a result of the collision. Paramedics rushed him to a hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, CHP determined that the patient was under the influence of alcohol when he struck the other car. They soon arrested him for DUI.

Meanwhile, officers forced the northbound lanes of Highway 99 near Clovis following the Fresno County crash. The cause of the fatal wreck is still under investigation.
