
Gabriel Basulto, 18, ID’d as Suspect in Selma Crash Near Floral and Wright
SELMA, CA (December 23, 2022) – Authorities detained Gabriel Basulto after a crash that killed a pedestrian in Selma.
Police identified the 18-year-old Selma man as the suspect in the fatal collision which took place earlier this month.
The incident happened when Gabriel Basulto was driving in the area of Floral Avenue and Wright Street in Selma. For an unknown reason, he struck a female pedestrian near the intersection.
Girl, 17, Hit and Killed by Car
The ABC 30 News and Your Central Valley wrote that the accident on December 8 at around 8:20 a.m. The victim sustained life-threatening injuries as a result of the collision.
Paramedics rushed the 17-year-old girl to the Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno, where she died a week later–on her birthday.
Meanwhile, Gabriel Basulto stopped following the crash. Police arrested him on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter-felony, failure to yield right of way to a pedestrian, and unsafe turning motion.
Officers soon booked the driver into the Fresno County Jail. The cause of the Selma pedestrian crash is still under investigation.
