Gerald Willis, 49, ID’d as Suspect in Fatal Rancho Cucamonga DUI Crash
RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CA (August 20, 2022) – Authorities detained Gerald Willis after a DUI crash that killed a bicyclist in Rancho Cucamonga.
The sheriff’s department determined that the 49-year-old Rancho Cucamonga man was under the influence when the collision occurred on Saturday.
The incident began when Gerald Willis was driving a black 2019 Jeep Compass in the city of Rancho Cucamonga. He was traveling in the area of Arrow Route and Haven Avenue at the time.
Deputies said the driver then struck 41-year-old Daniel Soto who was riding a bicycle on the shoulder of westbound Arrow Route.

The Sun wrote that the fatal accident took place at around 2 a.m. The victim was cycling with a group of riders including his juvenile son when the car hit him.
The bicyclist died at the scene of the collision. Meanwhile, officers soon arrested the motorist on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter.

Officers forced the area of Arrow Route and Haven Avenue to shut down for a time after the wreck. The Rancho Cucamonga DUI crash is still under investigation.
