Big Rig Truck, Car Crash at Fresno Intersection
FRESNO, Calif. (Nov. 17, 2022) — Gerardo Garcia, 28, of Caruthers, is one of two people who died in a car accident Monday morning at the intersection of West Kamm Avenue and South Jameson Avenue near Caruthers.
Rafael Hernandez, 68, of Fresno, also died in the collision reported about 7:04 a.m. on Nov. 14th, according to a California Highway Patrol dispatch.
A third person suffered injuries in the collision between a semi-truck and a Toyota Camry.
A man driving a semi-truck was headed north on Jameson Avenue. He allegedly failed to stop at a posted stop sign and collided with the Toyota Camry, according to ABC 30 News. The engine and parts of the vehicles were scattered across the roadway. Additionally, the Toyota wound up off the roadway in a nearby grape vineyard and the truck blocked the street.
Cal Fire sent paramedics to help those hurt in the crash, but the driver from the Toyota identified as Gerardo Garcia died at the scene. The man from the big rig truck also died at the hospital. Authorities say the men in the truck were not wearing seat belts.
Meanwhile, tow trucks removed at least one of the damaged vehicles from the freeway.
Investigators are working on the case to determine fault for the fatal crash on Kamm Avenue.
