Cyclist Fatally Struck by Vehicle on Highway 101
Fortuna, CA (January 21, 2023) – Gerardo Martinez died following a bicycle accident that occurred on State Route Highway 101 on January 14, Saturday.
The Redheaded Blackbelt News reported the young man was riding a bicycle traveling at an unknown direction on the highway in Fortuna. In the area between Kenmar exit and the 12th street exit, a vehicle struck the cyclist. The force from the impact resulted in serious injuries to the male party riding the bike.
Deadly Bicycle Accident in Fortuna
Shortly after 11:16 p.m., rescue teams arrived at the location. Responding paramedics rendered first aid to the victim then transported him to a hospital for further treatment. Our sources mentioned the patient later sadly succumbed to his injuries and passed away. An article published online identified the deceased as Gerardo Martinez, also known to some as Roldi.
Several factors surrounding the unfortunate event remained unclear. At this time, detectives continue to investigate exactly how and why the fatal crash happened on Highway 101 in Fortuna.
