Gevorg George Gevorgyan, 30, ID’d as Suspect in Winnetka Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash
LOS ANGELES, CA (May 15, 2022) – Authorities detained Gevorg George Gevorgyan after a hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian in Winnetka.
Police identified the 30-year-old man as the suspect in the fatal collision which took place on Saturday night.
The incident happened when Gevorg George Gevorgyan was driving north on Winnetka Avenue in the neighborhood of Los Angeles. At the same time, a male pedestrian was walking in the roadway.
Police said for an unknown reason, he struck the man in the 7600 block of the road. The CBS Los Angeles and My News LA wrote that the accident occurred on May 14 at around 9:30 p.m.
Man Hit and Killed by Car
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and then found the man in his 40s down on the ground. He sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel pronounced the victim dead at the scene. His name has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, police affirmed that the driver did not stop to render aid to the pedestrian and fled the area. They added that he later returned to the crash site.
Officers soon arrested Gevorg Gevorgyan on suspicion of felony hit-and-run. The cause of the Winnetka hit-and-run incident is still under investigation.
