Major Injury Collision Near Gaviota Rest Area Thursday
Goleta, CA (December 30, 2021) – At least one person suffered serious injuries following a traffic accident that occurred on US Highway 101 Thursday morning.
The California Highway Patrol group reported a black Chevrolet sedan collided with a Caltrans trailer. Initial records indicated the truck was parked on the right-hand shoulder of the freeway when the crash happened.

Shortly after 7:40 a.m., rescue teams arrived at the location. First responders found the passenger vehicle with significant damage. Paramedics checked the conditions of all parties involved in the wreck. After the evaluation, officials confirmed at least one person sustained major injuries as a result of the wreck. Authorities continue to withhold personal information on the victim pending confirmation.
Several factors surrounding the incident remained unclear. At this time, detectives continue to investigate the precise cause of the car accident on Highway 101 in Goleta.
