Pedestrian Grace Uyeki, 69, Killed in Poway Crash at Edgemoor and Midland
POWAY, CA (December 4, 2022) – Grace Uyeki was killed after a pedestrian crash at Edgemoor Street and Midland Road in Poway.
Friends identified the 69-year-old Poway woman as the victim of the fatal accident which took place on Saturday morning.
The incident happened when Grace Uyeki was crossing the intersection of Edgemoor Street and Midland Road with her dog in Poway. At the same time, a Ford Ranger stopped at the intersection.
Woman Hit by Car
Deputies said the Ford then made a left turn onto Midland to go south. For an unknown reason, the driver failed to yield the right-of-way to the woman.
In the process, the car struck her as she walked within the marked crosswalk. The San Diego Union-Tribune and ABC 10 News wrote that the collision occurred on December 3 at about 9 a.m.
Grace Uyeki sustained serious injuries as a result of the pedestrian accident. Paramedics rushed her to the Palomar Medical Center in Escondido, where she soon died.
Meanwhile, the 35-year-old man driving the Ranger told police that he did not see the person in the roadway. The cause of the Poway pedestrian crash is still under investigation.
