Pedestrian Killed in Grantville Crash on Alvarado Canyon Road
SAN DIEGO, CA (February 14, 2022) – A crash killed a pedestrian on Alvarado Canyon Road in the Grantville neighborhood.
According to The San Diego Union-Tribune and FOX 5 News, the tragic accident took place on Monday night. Officers reported the collision shortly before 9 p.m.
San Diego police said a U-Haul moving truck hit a male pedestrian for an unknown reason in Grantville. The vehicle struck him on Alvarado Canyon Road, east of Fairmount Avenue.
Victim Hit by U-Haul Truck
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the site, just below the Interstate 8, and found the victim lying on the ground. He sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel soon pronounced the person dead at the scene. His name has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, police did not mention if the driver of the U-Haul truck stopped and stayed at the site after hitting the victim. The cause of the fatal Grantville pedestrian crash is still under investigation.
Officers forced a stretch of Alvarado Canyon Road to shut down for several hours following the incident.
