Girl, 17, Injured in Greenwood Crash on Highway 193 Near Sliger Mine Road
EL DORADO COUNTY, CA (March 2, 2022) – A teenage girl was injured after a DUI crash on Highway 193 near Sliger Mine Road in Greenwood.
According to an article published by The Mountain Democrat, the accident took place on Tuesday night. Officers reported the wreck at about 6:15 p.m.
The incident happened on March 1 when a 2019 GMC Canyon pulled out of the parking lot of Lance’s Place in Greenwood onto Highway 193.
The California Highway Patrol said the GMC then went directly into the path of a 1997 Jeep Wrangler. In the process, the two cars collided just north of Sliger Mine Road.
2 Cars Collide
The Jeep obtained heavy front-end damage while the Canyon rolled over upon impact. Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and found the driver of the Wrangler hurt.
Medical personnel treated the 17-year-old girl from Georgetown for the minor injuries she sustained in the collision. The man driving the GMC suffered minor wounds as a result of the wreck.
Officials took him to the Marshall Hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, CHP determined that the suspect was under the influence of alcohol when he hit the other vehicle.
Officers soon arrested him for felony DUI. The report did not disclose the names of the wounded parties and their condition at this time.
CHP forced a stretch of Highway 193 to shut down near the bar following the crash. The Greenwood collision is still under investigation.
