Gregory Salyer, 68, Killed in Bakersfield Crash at State and Airport
BAKERSFIELD, CA (May 29, 2023) – Gregory Salyer was killed after a motorcycle crash at State Road and Airport Drive in Bakersfield.
The coroner’s office identified the 68-year-old Bakersfield man as the victim in the fatal wreck which took place on Sunday.
The incident happened when Gregory Charles Salyer was riding a motorcycle west on State Road, approaching Airport Drive, in Bakersfield. At the same time, a vehicle was going north on Airport.
Driver Runs Red Light, Hits Motorcyclist
Police said for an unknown reason, the northbound driver ran a red light at the intersection. In the process, the vehicle collided with the motorcyclist.
The Bakersfield Californian and Kern Golden Empire wrote that accident occurred on May 28 shortly after 11:15 a.m. Gregory Salyer sustained life-threatening injuries as a result of the crash.
Paramedics rushed the victim to the Kern Medical, where he soon died. Meanwhile, police added that the man driving the vehicle stopped and stayed at the site following the wreck.
