Gregory Schmitz, 69, Seriously Injured in Napa Crash at Big Ranch and El Centro
NAPA, CA (December 13, 2021) – Gregory Schmitz was seriously injured after a DUI crash at Big Ranch Road and El Centro Avenue in Napa.
The California Highway Patrol identified the 69-year-old Napa man as the victim of the wreck which took place on Sunday night.
The incident began when Gregory J. Schmitz stopped on southbound Big Ranch Road in Napa while a Chevrolet Silverado was backing out of a driveway.
A Jeep Cherokee also going south then slammed into the rear of the Toyota at the intersection with El Centro Avenue. The impact pushed the Prius into a ditch.
Multiple Cars Collide
The Jeep continued forward and hit the Chevrolet. The Napa Valley Register wrote that the accident occurred on December 12 at about 8:42 p.m.
Gregory Schmitz sustained major injuries as a result of the crash. Paramedics rushed him to the Providence Queen of the Valley Medical Center for treatment.
The drivers of the Chevrolet and Jeep survived with minor injuries. Meanwhile, CHP determined that the motorist in the Cherokee was under the influence of alcohol when the wreck occurred.
Officers soon arrested him for DUI causing injury. They forced the area of Big Ranch Road and El Centro Avenue to shut down following the wreck.
The Napa DUI crash is still under investigation.
