DUI Wrong-Way Driver in Alpine Fatal Crash ID’d as Guillermo Christian Roblero III
ALPINE, CA (April 10, 2021) – Authorities detained Guillermo Roblero III after a fatal DUI wrong-way crash along the Interstate 8 in Alpine.
The California Highway Patrol determined that the 26-year-old Alpine man was under the influence of alcohol early Saturday.
The accident began when Guillermo Christian Roblero III was driving a gray Toyota Scion TC east in the westbound lanes of the Interstate 8 in Alpine. At the same time, a blue Honda CR-V was going west.
CHP said the Toyota then slammed head-on into the Honda, just west of Dunbar Lane. According to the San Diego Union-Tribune and NBC San Diego, the wreck happened at about 2:05 a.m.

Firefighters along with the paramedics responded and pronounced the driver of the CV-R, a 59-year-old San Diego man, dead at the scene.
His name has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin. Medical personnel took Guillermo Roblero III to Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego for treatment of major injuries.
Meanwhile, authorities soon arrested Roblero on felony charges of DUI. Officers forced the westbound I-8 to shut down between Dunbar Lane and Lake Jennings Park Road following the wrong-way collision.
The fatal Alpine DUI crash is still under investigation. Anyone with information can call the CHP at (619) 401-2000.
