Pedestrian Seriously Injured in Hemet Hit-and-Run at Stanford Street and Highway 74
HEMET, CA (May 9, 2021) – A pedestrian was seriously injured after a hit-and-run crash at Stanford Street and Highway 74 in Hemet.
According to the California Highway Patrol dispatch team, the accident occurred early Sunday. Officers reported the incident shortly before 12:30 a.m.
CHP said a vehicle struck the pedestrian for an unknown reason. The driver hit the person at the intersection of Stanford Street and Highway 74, known as Florida Avenue, in Hemet.
Driver Hits Victim, Flees Scene
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon responded to the scene. They found the victim left suffering from major injuries as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel then rushed the patient to the Riverside University Health System Medical Center for treatment. Officials did not disclose the name of the wounded party and their condition at this time.
Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that the motorist did not stop to render aid and fled the area. Officers forced the intersection of Stanford Street and Highway 74 to shut down following the accident.
Authorities are still searching for the suspect. The cause of the Hemet hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
