Girl, 16, Riding Bicycle Critically Injured in Santa Monica Hit-and-run
SANTA MONICA, Calif. (Feb. 15, 2022) — A teenage girl suffered major injuries in a Santa Monica hit-and-run bicycle accident at Chelsea Avenue and Santa Monica Boulevard.
The collision happened about 2 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 13th at the intersection of Chelsea Avenue and Santa Monica Boulevard, police said. The 16-year-old bicyclist was located in the roadway with severe injuries. Paramedics transported her to a hospital where she remains in critical condition.
Also, an unlicensed motorist driving a black Chevrolet sedan struck the teenager riding a bike and fled the scene.
Later, police located the suspect identified as Maximiliano Ramos Santiago, 29, of Los Angeles. He was arrested at his home the next day on Monday, Feb. 14th. They booked him on suspicion of felony hit and run and driving without a license, according to the Santa Monica Police Department.
Police towed the suspect’s black Chevrolet sedan as evidence, police said.
