1 Injured in Imperial County Hit-and-Run at Highway 111 and McCabe Road

IMPERIAL COUNTY, CA (January 2, 2022) – One was airlifted after a hit-and-run crash at Highway 111 and McCabe Road in Imperial County.

The California Highway Patrol first logged the incident early Saturday, on New Year’s Day. Officers reported the wreck shortly after 2 a.m.

The accident happened on January 1 when two vehicles collided for an unknown reason in Imperial County. They crashed on southbound Highway 111 at the intersection with East McCabe Road.

2 Vehicles Collide

CHP said a car rolled onto its side due to the impact of the collision. Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene near El Centro and Heber.

They found one person who ended up hurt as a result of the incident. An air ambulance then took the patient to the Desert Regional Medical Center for treatment of unspecified injuries.

The report did not disclose the name of the wounded party and their condition at this time. Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that a driver involved did not stop to help and fled the area.

Officers forced the southbound Highway 111 at McCabe to shut down following the wreck. The cause of the Imperial County hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
