Pedestrian Seriously Injured in Indio Crash on Interstate 10 Near Washington
INDIO, CA (April 2, 2022) – A pedestrian was seriously injured after a crash on the Interstate 10 near Washington Street in Indio.
According to the California Highway Patrol dispatch team, the accident took place on Saturday night. Officers reported the collision at about 8:23 p.m.
CHP said at least one vehicle struck the pedestrian for an unknown reason in Indio. The car hit the person on the eastbound Interstate 10, just east of Washington Street.
Victim Hit by Car
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene. They found the victim who sustained major injuries as a result of the incident.
Medical personnel then took the patient to a hospital for treatment. The report did not release the name of the wounded party and their condition at this time.
Meanwhile, CHP did not mention if the driver stopped and stayed at the site after hitting the person. The cause of the Indio pedestrian crash is still under investigation.
Officers forced the eastbound side of the Interstate 10 to shut down near Washington following the collision.
