3 Killed, 5 Seriously Injured in Isla Vista Crash at El Colegio and Stadium
ISLA VISTA, CA (May 28, 2022) – A crash killed several people and seriously injured multiple others at El Colegio Road and Stadium Road in Isla Vista.
According to the Noozhawk and KEYT News, the tragic accident took place on Saturday afternoon. Officers reported the wreck shortly before 5 p.m.
The incident began when a car was driving recklessly for an unknown reason in Isla Vista. The vehicle then ran a red light and struck two more cars at the intersection of El Colegio Road and Stadium Road.
The California Highway Patrol said one of the vehicles involved slammed into a tree nearby.
Reckless Driver Runs Red Light, Hits Cars
Firefighters arrived and rescued the trapped occupants from the wreckage. They soon pronounced three parties dead at the scene.
A total of five individuals ended up hurt as a result of the collision. Two patients sustained major injuries and the other three survived with moderate injuries.
Paramedics rushed them to the hospital for treatment. The names of the deceased and wounded victims have not been yet released.
Meanwhile, CHP forced the area of El Colegio and Stadium to shut down for a time following the wreck. The cause of the fatal Isla Vista crash is still under investigation.
