Jack Varganagl, 20, ID’d as Suspect in Irvine Fatal DUI Crash
IRVINE, CA (July 19, 2022) – Authorities detained Jack Varganagl after a fatal DUI crash at Meadow Valley and Spring Valley in Irvine.
Police determined that the 20-year-old Irvine man was under the influence of drugs when the wreck took place on Sunday.
The incident began when Jack Varganagl was driving a Volkswagen Golf at a high rate of speed in the Northpark gated community of Irvine. Police said he then struck the rear of a Mini Cooper.
The speeding driver rear-ended the other car at the intersection of Meadow Valley and Spring Valley. The Mini Cooper burst into flames as a result of the collision.
2 Killed in Wreck
Firefighters arrived and pronounced the two people riding the burning vehicle dead at the scene. The Orange County Register and My News LA wrote that the accident occurred on July 17 shortly after 8 p.m.
The names of the deceased victims have not been yet released pending notification of next of kin. Meanwhile, police added that Jack Varganagl sustained unknown injuries following the crash.
Medical personnel rushed him to a hospital for treatment. Officers soon arrested and booked Jack Varganagl on suspicion of DUI.
