Jacque Ensign, 90, Severely Injured in Berkeley Pedestrian Crash at Marin and Shattuck

BERKELEY, CA (December 29, 2021) – A pedestrian crash severely injured Jacque Ensign at Marin and Shattuck avenues in Berkeley.

Reports identified the 90-year-old Berkeley woman as the victim of the collision which took place on December 10.

The incident began when Jacque Ensign was crossing Marin Avenue from the north side to the south side at the intersection with Shattuck Avenue in Berkeley. At the same time, a Volvo Wagon was traveling down Marin.

Berkeley police said for an unknown reason, the car struck the pedestrian in the crosswalk. The Berkeley Side wrote that the accident occurred at around 3:45 p.m.

Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and then found the victim down on the ground. Jacque Ensign sustained multiple severe injuries as a result of the pedestrian crash.

Medical personnel soon took her to a hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, police affirmed that the 49-year-old Berkeley woman driving the Volvo stopped after hitting the victim.

She stayed at the site and cooperated with the officers. The cause of the incident is still under investigation.
