Jacqueline Cortez, 21, Dead After Fiery Collision at Normandie Avenue and Century Boulevard
Los Angeles, CA (April 16, 2021) – On January 9, 2018, Jacqueline Cortez suffered deadly injuries after a police chase ended in a car accident at the intersection of Normandie Avenue and Century Boulevard.
According to My News LA, Jacqueline Cortez was a passenger in a silver Honda CR-V traveling in South Los Angeles. For reasons still unclear, the driver of the Honda accelerated toward a patrol vehicle and hit the door. Subsequently, officers at the scene launched a chase.
Roughly four minutes into the pursuit, the Honda crashed into a utility pole at the crossing of Normandie and Century.

The force from the impact caused the Honda to burst into flames. When medical personnel arrived at the scene, they immediately rendered aid to both Jacqueline Cortez and the driver of the Honda. Paramedics later confirmed the female passenger died of blunt force trauma from the collision.
Further investigation on the case is ongoing.
