2 Killed in Head-On Collision at Elm and American Avenue
Fresno, CA (November 9, 2022) – Police arrested 66-year-old Jamie Figueroa in relation with a deadly car accident that occurred in the area of Elm and American Avenue.
According to Fresno Bee News, Figueroa was behind the wheel of a silver 2016 Hyundai Sonata heading south on Elm. When the man approached the four-way stop at American Avenue, Figueroa allowed the Hyundai to veer into the opposite lanes. Officials said the Hyundai drove into the path of a gold 2002 Pontiac Grand Am, causing the two cars to crash head-on.
The catastrophic incident took place around 4:10 p.m.
Our sources confirmed the driver and passenger in the Pontiac both sadly died as a result of the collision. Authorities identified the fatal victims as a 67-year-old male, and a 64-year-old male, both from Fresno.
DUI Suspect Arrested After Deadly Car Accident in Fresno
Preliminary investigation revealed the driver of the Hyundai, Jamie Figueroa, was intoxicated at the time of the collision. Police then arrested the suspect on suspicion of DUI, and vehicular manslaughter. Officers will book the man into Fresno County Jail after receiving treatment for injuries sustained in the crash.
Further investigation on the case is ongoing.
