Pedestrian Killed in Jamul Hit-and-Run on Campo Road Near Casino
JAMUL, CA (February 20, 2022) – A hit-and-run crash killed a pedestrian near a casino on Campo Road in Jamul.
According to the California Highway Patrol dispatch team, the tragic accident took place early Sunday. Officers reported the collision at about 12:12 a.m.
CHP said a vehicle struck the pedestrian for an unknown reason. The driver hit the person on Campo Road, known as State Route 94, in front of the Jamul Casino.
Driver Hits Victim, Flees Scene
Firefighters along with the paramedics then arrived at the scene near Peaceful Valley Ranch Road. They found the victim left lying on the ground as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel soon pronounced the patient dead. The name of the deceased party has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that the motorist did not stop to render aid to the victim and fled the area. They described the car as a Chevrolet truck.
Officers forced a stretch of Campo Road to shut down near the casino following the collision. The cause of the fatal Jamul hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
