Jasmine De La Cruz, 21, Killed in Los Angeles Wrong-Way Crash on 110 Freeway
LOS ANGELES, CA (March 30, 2021) – A DUI wrong-way crash killed Jasmine De La Cruz along the 110 Freeway in Los Angeles.
The coroner’s office identified the 21-year-old Bellflower woman as one of the victims in the fatal accident on Tuesday.
The incident happened when Jasmine Hope De La Cruz was riding as a passenger in a Toyota sedan. The car was going north on the 110 Freeway near Ninth Street in Los Angeles.
At the same time, a Lexus SUV was traveling south in the northbound lanes of the freeway. The California Highway Patrol said the Lexus then slammed head-on into the other vehicle.

Jasmine De La Cruz and the 21-year-old Downey man driving the Toyota sedan died at the scene. According to the Whittier Daily News and My News LA, officers reported the wreck at 2 a.m.
The wrong-way driver, a 32-year-old man, suffered major injuries as a result of the collision. His passengers, a 32-year-old woman and a 4-year-old boy, sustained moderate injuries upon impact.
Paramedics took all three San Pedro residents to a hospital for treatment. CHP added that the motorist in a Toyota Corolla that later collided with the two vehicles ended up unharmed.
Meanwhile, officers shut down the Nos 3, 4 and 5 lanes of the northbound 110 Freeway at Ninth Street. They also closed the transition roads from both directions of the 10 Freeway to the northbound 110 following the crash.
Authorities believed that the operator of the SUV was under the influence of alcohol when the wreck occurred. Anyone with information can call the CHP Central Area Office at 213-744-2331 or 323-259-3200.
