Jeff Sczechowski, 58, Seriously Injured in Ventura County Hit-and-Run on Pacific Coast Highway
VENTURA COUNTY, CA (February 13, 2022) – Jeff Sczechowski was seriously injured after a hit-and-run crash on Pacific Coast Highway in Ventura County.
The KSBY News identified the 58-year-old Santa Barbara man as the victim of the collision which took place on Saturday.
The incident happened when Jeff Sczechowski was riding a black mountain bike on Pacific Coast Highway in Ventura County. He was cycling on the shoulder of the northbound lanes at the time.
For an unknown reason, a vehicle traveling in the same direction then struck him from behind. The two collided, north of the Sycamore Canyon State Park entrance.
Driver Hits Bicyclist, Flees Scene
Jeff Sczechowski ended up thrown into a parked vehicle as a result of the collision. The accident occurred on February 12 at about 11:10 a.m.
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene and found him down on the ground. He sustained significant injuries to his back, legs and arms following the incident.
Medical personnel then rushed the victim to the Ventura County Medical Center. Meanwhile, police affirmed that the driver did not stop to render aid to the bicyclist and fled the area.
Officers are still searching for the hit-and-run suspect who left Jeff Sczechowski wounded in the highway. The cause of the Ventura County hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
